Nashville Mayor Karl Dean said Tuesday he was “dismayed” by IQT’s call-centre shutdown in Canada without proper notice, two weeks’ pay and vacation and other benefits. The incentive grant has been withdrawn.
MONTREAL - The Quebec government and Bell Canada will help the 1,200 call-centre workers laid off abruptly without notice by U.S.-owned IQT Solutions Inc. in Laval, Trois Rivières and Oshawa, Ont., on Friday.
But New York-based IQT Solutions will likely be thwarted in its plan to shift its corporate headquarters to a new 60,000-square-foot building in downtown Nashville, Tenn., with space for a call centre with 900 workers and a $1.6-million (U.S.) incentive grant.
